The renovation of the historic West Seattle High School was Washington State’s largest lump sum public works project of its time. Over 100,000 square feet of the original building was restored and 123,000 square feet of new building was added. The result is a perfect blend of old world charm and current educational technology. The renovation included repairing ornamental plaster and creating replicas when necessary to replace badly damaged members. Structural masonry walls that had been weakened over time were reinforced with Helifix anchors and cold formed framing.
